Imagine being just 26 years old and being told you have stage 3 colon cancer. Just before Christmas. That’s what happened to Chris Wark. What began as intermittent abdominal pain was actually a tumor the size of a golf ball. He was rushed into surgery, but woke up to the news that the cancer had spread to his lymph nodes. His options? He only had one: chemotherapy for 9 to 12 months.
But poisoning himself back to health didn’t make sense to Chris. He wanted to build his body back up, not tear it down. He began researching alternatives. The books he read opened his eyes to the healing power of nutrition and how our diet impacts our health. Suddenly he realized that he’d created his cancer, so he could fix it. He immediately bought a juicer and went from a standard American diet to 100% vegan and 100% raw.
It wasn’t easy to make that decision. His oncologist told him he was insane not to have chemo. He warned Chris that fruits and vegetables would “fight” the treatment, and that chemo was his only hope - without it, there was a 50% chance he would be dead within 5 years. Chris was crushed, and frightened.
Unfortunately, this is something that happens to almost all cancer patients. They are manipulated into believing that chemotherapy and cancer drugs are the only solutions. They’re told that diet makes no difference. When Chris woke up from the surgery to remove his tumor, his first hospital meal was a sloppy joe - despite the fact red meat is classed as a “probable carcinogen” by the World Health Organization.
Patients are told their cancer is either bad luck or bad genes. This turns patients into victims of circumstance, whose only hope is to show up for “standard” treatment. But we know that cancer is multifactorial. Only 5% of cancers are genetic - 95% are caused by diet, lifestyle and environment. What this means is that cancer is not something that just happens, and it isn’t something we are powerless against. We have cancer cells in our bodies all the time, but our immune system is designed to fight and kill these cells. The difference between someone with cancer and someone without is their internal environment. We can make our bodies somewhere cancer can thrive (through a poor diet, high stress, environmental toxins), or somewhere cancer cannot survive. But how?

Adam’s Tips for Manifestation:
Black Hole of Fitness Doom
Do you fall into the black hole of fitness doom? When we embark on a new program, whether it’s a fitness program or a new diet, we all go through the same cycle. We start out feeling pumped, then we begin seeing results and feel fired up. And then we have a “life happens” moment, we’re not ready, so we crash and burn. We give up, believe that we’ve failed or that the program doesn’t work, and we start another one. And on we go, losing weight, gaining it back, and each time feeling less motivated and more burned out. To break out of that cycle, it’s vital to figure out your transformational danger zones and find strategies to deal with them. Once you do that, you will get dramatically better results from your fitness and nutrition program.
Adam’s Amazing Results Formula:
If you apply these four principles to any health goals, you’re going to succeed.

Can you reverse diabetes? Conventional science says no. Our favorite plant-based doctor says YES. And this is backed up by science.
Dr. Neal Barnard grew up on a ranch in North Dakota, cattle county. He wanted to be a psychiatrist. But while working as an autopsy assistant, he made the connection between meat and a dead animal. The seed was planted. As time went on, he began thinking about veganism from the standpoint of both health and animal welfare. Dr. Barnard believes compassion should be the foundation of medicine - this means medical research has to be ethical. So if a disease is related to food, like diabetes, we need to do more than simply throw pharmaceuticals at it and hope for the best. That’s why he set up the Physicians’ Committee for Responsible Medicine, a group that promotes preventative medicine through a plant-based diet.
What is diabetes?
Diabetes happens when your body’s cells are no longer able to absorb sugar and use it for energy. This happens if you eat too many fatty foods. Fat gets into the cells and stops them working property. The solution? Well, it isn’t the standard diabetes diet - low-calorie, low-carb. The best diet for reversing diabetes is a vegan diet, with minimum oils and an abundance of low-glycemic foods.
Why not just avoid carbs?
Many people think that to control your blood sugar you simply need to avoid carbs. But the problem with that theory is that around half of what we eat contains carbs - including a lot of good stuff, like sweet potatoes, beans, wholegrains. Sure, your blood sugar levels will drop and you will lose weight on a low-carb diet… because you’re semi-starving. It is not sustainable long-term. Then add extra eggs and meat, and the result is more cholesterol and a higher risk of early death. Keto may be on trend, but it won’t do your health much good.
Dr. Barnard isn’t just a plant-based nutrition expert. He’s also a TV host and best-selling author, with over 70 scientific papers and 18 books published. His latest one, The Vegan Starter-Kit is a super-short book packed with tips for transitioning to a vegan diet and reversing diabetes. It makes the perfect gift for anyone looking to go plant-based - give your loved ones the gift of health! It’s out on December 24th, and you can pre-order it on Amazon now.

When Allison hired weight-loss expert David Zappasodi, he told her to stop exercising and go buy a bunch of junk food. This is a weight-loss strategy like no other. But, it WORKS.
Did you know that out of all the people who try losing weight every year, only 3% succeed? From the moment David stepped into the health and wellness industry, over 20 years ago, he knew he had to find a new method that challenges common weight-loss approaches. So he developed a revolutionary strategy to reprogram your brain to give up junk food and stop over-eating for good. His ultimate goal? To eradicate world-wide obesity. We love his mission!!
But how can you do this? By creating brain-flips around your cravings.
How Do Brain Flips Work?
It’s vital to understand that we have two aspects to our brain. First, there’s the thinking brain - we use it to fix problems and make our lives better. The thinking brain knows that certain foods are an issue and it wants to get rid of the craving. This is the part of the brain most of us will try to use to lose weight, and it never works. The sensory brain, on the other hand, is different - it’s the opposite of your thinking brain in so far as it has no capacity to think. It just functions through your senses - hearing, sight, smell, touch, taste - but it doesn’t have a concept of what it’s seeing, tasting, touching, smelling etc. It doesn’t identify - that’s the thinking brain’s job. Your sensory brain’s role is to keep you safe - it does that by creating familiar associations.
For example, let’s say as a child you fell and scraped your knee. Your mum bandaged it up, and gave you an ice-cream. Your thinking brain is aware the bandaging is what’s helping, but your sensory brain just links the taste of ice-cream to the physical sensation of feeling better - it creates a program that says ice-cream equals feeling good. The result? A craving for ice-cream that lasts into adulthood. The story changes, the food changes, but it’s pretty much the same for everyone and all cravings. Your thinking brain might know that this is happening, but that won’t solve the problem. Unless you can reprogram your brain, you will keep having those cravings. You need a brain-flip. To create this brain-flip, you need a pain tool.
Pain Tool:
You’ve concluded that ice-cream equals safe. So you need to create a pain tool that reprograms your sensory brain to believe that ice-cream equals not safe. How? David gets his clients to make an audio that goes deep into what their life will look like if they don’t solve this problem, which they listen to whilst eating the ice-cream or whatever food they crave. This pain tool plants a seed in the sensory brain that says ice-cream is not enjoyable after all. It’s a small seed, but it begins to decrease the cravings. Within a few days, this new programming takes over. Your brain no longer associates the ice-cream with comfort, it associates it with pain. The result? You don’t crave that food any more. You are free.
And that’s just Phase 1. In Phase 2, David tackles over-eating. Where cravings tend to be an association of taste with comfort, overeating is an association between the feeling of fullness and feeling safe. This might happen because as a child you were told to finish what was on your plate, so your sensory brain created a link between overeating and feeling safe. In Phase 3, you go even deeper, by brain-flipping your beliefs about working out - making exercise so exciting you’ll be begging to get to the gym. Tune in to discover David’s tools for brain-flipping around overeating and exercise.
Alli has just completed Phase 1, and has gone from eating dessert every single day to not even wanting anything sweet. She feels like a completely new person - and you can too!
If you’ve tried program after program and are seriously struggling with weight-loss, you can schedule a free coaching call with David at www.empoweredhealthnow.com/talk.

Health is the cornerstone of prosperity. If our body isn’t functioning properly, we can’t do anything, we can’t lead joyful lives. We normalize aches and pains, bloating, exhaustion, headaches, ill-health - all the things caused by our lifestyle. We come to believe that to be human means to get progressively sicker every year. That simply isn’t true. There’s no reason we can’t be vibrant and active well into our 90’s. Today’s guest is a perfect example.
Eric L. Adams is a former Democratic State Senator and police officer, and current Borough President of Brooklyn and social justice warrior. He knows first-hand how powerful a simple lifestyle change can be. Two years ago, he was diagnosed with advanced Type 2 Diabetes. He had stomach ulcers, high blood pressure, permanent nerve damage to his hands and feet, and had lost sight in his right eye. Specialists told him that because diabetes ran in his family, he was inevitably heading towards kidney failure, blindness and possible foot amputation.
So he made a change. After reading Dr Greger’s How Not To Die (check out Episode 214), and watching Forks over Knives, he cleaned out his kitchen cupboards and swapped his Standard American Diet for a whole foods plant-based diet. Just 3 weeks later, his vision cleared up, his stomach ulcers disappeared, and the nerve damage was reversed. A complete turn-around.
Now, Eric is determined to empower people to heal themselves. Because after all, there’s no such thing as prosperity without a healthy community. He’s teamed up with schools to teach children to grow food, and runs initiatives like Meatless Mondays and 10-day challenges for people suffering with disease, as well as hosting events to demystify veganism.
But perhaps the most exciting initiative is what’s happening at Bellevue hospital. The first ever plant-based unit will be set up, run by functional medicine doctors, dietitians and nutritionists to show patients how to heal themselves, reverse disease and come off their prescription meds with a whole-food plant-based diet. Could this model be rolled out on a global scale? This could change the conversation around medicine for good. The future’s looking bright! Check out Eric’s Instagram to learn more!

Here are Kris and Leslie’s tips for getting through the holidays while staying healthy and productive:
A Delicious Holiday Detox?
And of course, we all want to look and feel fabulous during the holidays. This is a time when it’s even more important to detox, because we’re eating a little more and drinking a few extra glasses of wine. No one wants to feel sluggish and bloated at this time. What if you could add something to your regular routine that helps your body to detox naturally? Well, you can, with Teami blends.
Detoxing helps get rid of these extra holiday toxins, improve your energy levels, clear up your skin, boost your metabolism and clear out the digestive tract. We love detoxing, but this usually means fasting, which is not easy to do at this time of year!
That’s why we’re excited for you to try Teami Blends, a fun way to detox that fits into your normal day-to-day. In other words, you can eat and cleanse at the same time. What’s more, you can turn them into a delicious Mocha Choca latte - you’ll have to tune into the podcast for the recipe! Right now, you can get 20% off Teami Blends with discount code FoodHeals.

Is it possible to eat meat AND be cruelty free? Can we continue eating burgers and still tackle the global climate crisis? A few years ago, the answer to that would have been no, absolutely not. But today, clean meat is forging the way towards exactly that: meat that requires no killing, and that has no environmental impact. One of the people involved in this shift is Bruce Friedrich.
Bruce went plant-based way before it was popular, back in 1987, after reading Diet for a Small Planet and realizing that meat production was taking us towards global starvation. When he found out what Pat Browne of Impossible Foods was doing, he realized clean meat is the future, and co-founded the Good Food Institute (GFI) - a non-profit organization that works with scientists and entrepreneurs to find sustainable, kind alternatives to industrially produced animal products.
Clean meat is not another veggie burger. It IS meat - but grown from cells in a lab, rather than by rearing livestock. The result is meat that is better for your health, and for the planet:
Better for Your Health and Global Health
Did you know about 70% of the antibiotics produced in the US go to farm animals? The risk is two-fold. Firstly, those meds end up in the meat and on your plate, and we are not designed to eat medication aimed at animals. The other risk has to do with how bacteria and viruses evolve. The indiscriminate use of antibiotics has resulted in the development of superbugs so strong they pose a greater threat to life than global climate change. In fact, by 2050, over 10 million people a year might die from antibiotic-resistant bugs. We absolutely need to end our reliance on these medications! With clean meat, there are no livestock animals, so no need for antibiotics - and no antibiotic residues in your burger!
Another reason clean meat is better for your health is that, since it’s grown in a lab, it doesn’t get contaminated by bacteria because it doesn’t come into contact with animal intestines or poop. That means no salmonella and no E.coli. Did you know that contaminated meat makes tens of millions of Americans sick every year? This doesn’t happen with clean meat.
Better For The Planet
Factory farming is not sustainable - we’ve known it for decades! It takes 9 calories of food (from grain or grass or soy) to “grow” 1 calorie of meat. So we’re throwing away 8 calories of crop to get just 1 consumable calorie. Basically, it’s 800% food waste. Think about what it takes to grow the crops to feed livestock: water, pesticides, herbicides, gas and energy to ship the crops to feed mills and to factory farms, to ship the animals to and from slaughter houses. It’s no wonder the UN’s report Livestock’s Long Shadow found that animal agriculture is one of the top 3 contributors to climate change.
End World Hunger
A transition to clean meat could end world poverty and hunger too. Plant-based meat could feed the world. Tens of millions of people die every year from starvation-related causes. Instead of growing crops to feed animals, these crops could be grown to feed the world’s poorest.
So clean meat means no waste, no cruelty, no environmental destruction. And it doesn’t require anyone to change their habits. It looks like meat, tastes like meat - it IS meat, but grown differently. That’s why it’s a game changer. And why Bruce and others predict that we’ll see a 100% plant-based meat world by 2050 (or sooner!).
Clean Protein - The Book
Bruce has just co-authored a new book with Kathy Freston. Clean Protein - The Revolution that Will Reshape Your Body, Boost Your Energy, And Save Our Planet is a presentation on which clean proteins are best for our health, as well as tips on working out how much protein you need, transitioning to veganism, plant-based shopping, and a ton of tasty recipes. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s the perfect read for anyone worried about how to stay healthy and vegan during the holidays.

Ah, Italy! The pizzas, the pastas, the wine, the gelato…. But what if you’re vegan? Well, let’s bust a myth right now: it’s a total misconception that travelling to Italy if you’re vegan, or gluten-free for that matter, is difficult. We’re used to the American versions of Italian foods, where it’s all about cream and cheese. Truth is, traditional Italian specialties, particularly in the South of Italy, are just about fresh produce done in a healthy way. Real Italian food is a whole other world - and it’s super vegan-friendly.
How do we know this? Because we’ve travelled throughout Italy and sampled the best vegan options! Like our Italian Getaway last year, where we went to the best restaurants Ravello has to offer. Check out Episode 211 to hear what previous guests thought of the experience.
But let’s go back to veganizing for a moment. Today is about how can you veganize Italian dishes at home, reduce the calories and make them healthier. Vince, our talented producer for the day (and mixing & mastering engineer) is Italian, but intolerant to dairy. Here are some of Leslie’s go-to Italian classics made plant-based.
Vegan Alfredo sauce:
Chicken Milano:
Eggplant parmigiana:
Easy vegan gelato:
Alli’s super-fast chocolate mousse:
How to make lemon olive oil:
These are just some of the dishes you could learn at our next Italian Getaway. That’s right, we’re going back to the Amalfi Coast! And we’d love to take you with us! This is not a large tour-bus type holiday - it’s an intimate retreat for like-minded women. We will fully immerse ourselves in Italian culture. We’ll sample the most exquisite food and wine, go shopping, hiking, and sailing. Leslie will teach you how to make healthy vegan meals so you can bring a taste of Italy back home with you. But that’s not all you’ll take back - this is a life changing retreat, where you will make connections that will last a lifetime.

It’s Halloween, so what better time to talk about ghosts and why they visit us? Some are our guardian angels. Some are stuck here. Some are malevolent, locked in this dimension by negative patterns. But ghosts aren’t the only thing that affect our present.
Many of our core beliefs, emotional traumas and even illness are passed down from our ancestors in our DNA.
Three years ago Roxy had a chance meeting with a clairvoyant who told her there’s a curse on the women’s side of her family. A curse on love. This made Roxy think about her own relationships. Are curses at play?
Do curses really exist?
According to Lisa, they do. There are different types of beings on the other side of the veil. Some have never had a body or been to earth, and follow the dark side. Some are spirits who have lived on earth before, but who have stayed earthbound - sometimes because of drug addiction, anger, revenge, guilt. Some are assigned as our guardian angels. Others are here because they are trying to teach us something. Some simply don’t know how to get back.
Whatever the reason, they can be cleared. Either through an energy clearing, or by accepting the gift they are trying to communicate. You can free yourself from inherited trauma, and help ghosts return to the other side. Lisa Thomas is a world-renown transformational energy healer who specializes in healing ancestral DNA and clearing old patterns. Check out Episode 215 for her story and tips to heal your inherited DNA.
If you want to book a DNA clearing, go to www.foodhealsnation.com/lisa to get on the list. Check out Lisa’s website and get your free meditation to Release Inherited Money Blocks, a great tool to unblock your limiting belief about money, clear your energy and prepare your body for healing.

Life is more than just about hustle. It’s about community. Finding your tribe. The people with keys that open up parts of yourself you never knew were there. Without community, life is empty.
Lori Harder grew up without community - in a small town, in an overweight family who believed they were victims of their genes, home schooled, with no friends outside her religion. She was lonely, repressed and depressed. It was fitness that sent her on the path to health and spiritual awakening. But it was a long journey, full of obstacles.
Despite changing her body, winning competitions, and being successful, Lori still felt miserable. This is something so many of us struggle with. We think we’ll be happy when we get that job, lose 10 pounds, get married, buy a house - but if we don’t confront and heal the inner stories that run in our mental background, happiness will always be elusive and short-lived.
Lori had to stop and figure out what was blocking her from feeling joy, and what made her feel really good. Suddenly she knew: she wanted something she had never had: community. She wanted to give women somewhere to go, a place to feel accepted and connected. And that’s exactly what she’s doing.
Host of the Earn Your Happy podcast, founder of the Bliss Project, and author of A Tribe Called Bliss, Lori now helps women to find their tribe, connect with their communities, and manifest their dream life.
Is it possible to manifest your dreams? Yes! By feeling that you’ve already got it, that your life is already where you want it to be. Create a space every day where you can feel what it would be like. Tap into that feeling as often as you can. The physical manifestation will follow naturally. If you want to delve deeper into this, then check out Earn Your Happy Episode 262.
Her book A Tribe Called Bliss made us laugh, cry, and get chills. It gives you a blueprint to connect with your tribe, and tells the story of how she overcame one of the most traumatic experiences a woman can go through - you’ll have to read the book to find out what happened!
If you want to connect with yourself and your tribe, then don’t miss Lori’s event The Bliss Project on March 1st to 3rd. It will be the best weekend of your life. Come and have fun, experience deep transformation, release old stories, connect with like-minded women, move your body, and celebrate every realm of yourself.

She’s one of the most inspiring businesswomen I know. Tracey Edmonds is an award-winning Hollywood producer, TV presenter and CEO of Edmonds Entertainment Group. And now she’s helping people live their dream life through her new website Alright Now.
Sometimes in life, situations happen that make you completely rethink your lifestyle. For Tracey, this moment came when her dad had a quadruple bypass. As he was fighting for his life, she made a vow to get healthy. At the time, she was eating a lot of junk food and was taking prescription meds for digestion issues. These issues disappeared when she changed her diet. From the age of 25, Tracey has been on a journey of discovery about nutrition, fitness and spirituality.
Two years ago, Tracey lost her mum to an aggressive form of cancer called mesothelioma - and at the same time learned a lot about cancer, how it’s treated, and how it could be treated. As an outpatient, her mom was having Vitamin C IVs and taking supplements. Her tumors had shrunk by 40%. The second she had to go into hospital full-time, all that had to stop - no Vitamin C transfusions, no supplements, just western-medicine-approved chemotherapy and radiation. Her tumors grew back. She lost the battle against cancer. Just one year later, Tracey’s dad died from a heart attack.
Nutrition and alternative healing are hardly talked about in traditional western medicine. Research shows that cancer cells feed on sugar, and yet you’ll find candy on display in chemotherapy centers. Evidence proves Vitamin C helps shrink tumors, and yet this is not part of cancer treatment. Most doctors get no more than a few hours nutrition training, how can they offer real advice? Some just see sickness as a business, a way to make money. This is why it’s so important that we do our own research.
The loss of both her parents to preventable diseases spurred Tracey on to launch a health & wellness website and make the world a better place. Alright Now was born.
Alright Now is an amazing resource for anyone wanting to learn about healing and how to live their best life. Health, fitness, parenting, career, relationships - it offers you tools to really thrive. Tracey’s big message: don’t procrastinate. Don’t wait. Do some soul searching: what life do you want for yourself, what steps you do you need to make it happen? Declare it, write it, decide it - the only limits are those you build up in your mind. Declare the life that you want and make it happen.

The Food Heals Podcast is hosted by Allison Melody and Suzy Hardy – two self-proclaimed natural chicks who will rock your world and change your beliefs about health! This sexy, savvy duo provides eco-friendly advice on a variety of issues including the healing power of nutrition, living authentically, turning your passion into your career, choosing the best natural health and beauty products, the benefits of a plant-based diet and so much more!
Fiona Oakes is one of the most humble, incredible, inspiring people we’ve ever met. At just 3 years old, she went vegetarian. When she was 6 she opted out of all animal products, at a time when being vegan was considered an eating disorder. Her love for animals motivated her to open up an animal sanctuary. But that wasn’t enough, she wanted to do more. In 2004, tired of vegan bashing, Fiona launched a running club to show you can be strong on a vegan diet, and to bring the word “vegan” to the masses.
Since then, she’s broken 3 world records and run countless marathons, including the Marathon des Sables - a 156-mile race through the Sahara Desert. This is all the more extraordinary when you find out that she doesn’t have a trainer, doesn’t really enjoy running, AND has no knee-cap! She’s driven by her love of animals, and her desire to create a more sustainable world.
But despite her achievements, mainstream media has kept its distance. In fact, Fiona was even told not to mention her vegan diet on live TV after she broke a world record!
Keegan Kuhn, co-creator of Cowspiracy and What the Health, wants to change that. We all need to use our own voice to elevate the vegan message, and elevate others who are promoting a positive agenda for the world, and the animals. Keegan was raised vegetarian with only two rules: don’t hurt anyone, and question authority. He turned vegan at just 12 - you can find out more about his story on Episode 93.
Fiona’s achievements and her humbleness are what made Keegan want to create the documentary Running for Good. We’re in a society who praises people who do things for their own ego, and here is this person who does it just for the animals. For over twenty years, she’s run over 20 miles a day while looking after 450 animals. She does this all on a vegan diet, to make the world a better place. We think she’s amazing.
Running for Good is available to pre-order now. Check it out!

Did you know sugar is the new smoking? Or that the molecular structure of sugar is nearly identical to cocaine’s? That’s what makes it so addictive - and it’s literally everywhere! Over 80% of items in the supermarket contain added sugar - even foods you wouldn’t expect, like crackers, salad dressing, and soup!
In the 80’s, we decided fat was the enemy. We removed the fat from our foods but replaced it with sugar. The result? We got fatter! And sicker. That’s because sugar causes inflammation in the body, and inflammation is the root cause of many diseases, from cardiovascular disease to cancer.
So how can we avoid the white stuff but still satisfy our sweet tooth? Swerve Sweeteners offer a natural solution!
Andress is the CEO and founder of Swerve Sweetener, a New Orleans-based company focused on helping educate people about blood sugar stabilization. With their sweeteners, you can bake to your heart’s content WITHOUT compromising on health. For Andress, health starts with blood sugar balance, because when you control blood sugar, you have better energy, better weight management, and better mood. She wanted to share a tool we can use to give up the white stuff without giving up pleasure.
What about coconut sugar, or maple syrup? Yes, they’re certainly better than refined white sugar…. But they’re still sugar, and they still impact your blood sugar - which means they’re not suitable for diabetics. Plus, they still contain plenty of calories.
The answer? Sugar alcohols, but not just any sugar alcohol. Swerve uses a blend of the sugar alcohol erythritol and prebiotic oligosaccharides. The reason erythritol is amazing is that the body metabolizes it in a completely different way to other sugar alcohols like xylitol (which can cause some digestive issues). What’s more, it’s vegan, there’s nothing artificial, no GMO, and no MSG. AND it’s diabetes-friendly!
So basically, you can use Swerve in your baking and cooking, guilt-free. Check out Swerve’s website for some absolutely gorgeous sweet recipes (there are over 300!). Watch out for their new products: brown sugar, and vegan keto grain-free gluten-free bake mixes for when you need a healthy treat in a hurry.
Available in your grocery store or online.

First of all, who made aging bad? We all get older, there’s no getting away from it. But we can do it with grace and ease. Between the ads, the movie stars, the instagrams, the magazines, the voices in our own head, the fact is we don’t feel good about ourselves. And as we get older, it gets worse. Instead of loving our wisdom and our journeys, instead of enjoying our life, we hate ourselves for every new wrinkle. So we run to the doctor and get fillers and injectables and lasers and Botox. But that isn’t the answer.
Lori Hart felt insecure about her body when she was young, and in her 20’s, she got talked into having liposuction. But the result was gastroparesis (paralysis of stomach muscles). She decided there and then she wanted to help women love themselves, and achieve gorgeous skin - naturally.
So what can we do for flawless, glowing skin?
Lori’s tips for youthful skin:
Lori’s mineral make-up includes sunblock that blocks UV rays, which means you can be in the sun all day without having to worry. And the best bit? Lori can even customize it for your unique skin. No additives, no fillers, just natural ingredients, crushed rocks and gemstones. This means you get the energetic vibration of crystals like peridot and tourmaline, combined with ingredients that heal and support your skin.
Lori’s cleansing device not only cleanses your skin by pulling toxins out, it has 4 settings that help skincare products penetrate deep enough to make a difference. Her other skincare device is an ultrasound micro-dermabrasive blade that removes all the microscopic grime and gives you a natural facelift, leaving your skin looking and feeling beautifully smooth.
If you want more info about the best skincare routine for you, book a skype with Lori, email her at lori@lorihart.com, or give her a call on 310 610 3449.

So she created a brand of skincare without harmful or irritating chemicals. Now, her skin is glowing, smooth, and completely gorgeous.
The Banish Kit contains everything you need to banish acne and scars, fade uneven texture and hyperpigmentation, and reduce wrinkles:

Masa and Michael Osei - Founder of The Minimalist Vegan
Do you suffer from the More Virus? Most of us do, to some degree or other. The symptoms? Always wanting more - more stuff, more success, more money, more cars, more clothes, more friends. Anyone who’s seen Hoarders knows that you can literally get trapped by your stuff. Always wanting more leaves us less time to actually enjoy life and be content with what we have right now.
Pursuing LESS rather than more gives you the opportunity to discover what really matters to you, and create the space for that in your life. If you want to set up your new business, be an activist, start a blog, then minimalism can free you from unwanted and unnecessary clutter so you have more time to do what you love.
Michael and Masa stumbled on the principle of minimalist living through ZenHabits, a blog about Buddhism and minimalism, and instantly knew they had to make the shift towards living with less stuff - not just for themselves but because minimalist living is kinder to the planet.
Four years later, they extended this to their diet. Masa and Michael went vegan overnight after watching Earthlings. It wasn’t easy, but once they’d seen the cruelty they couldn’t go back to eating animals. Their free cookbook is packed with delicious recipes to help you get into vegan eating effortlessly.
Check out their blog The Minimalist Vegan for tips and tricks to transition to a minimalist and vegan lifestyle - so you have more time and space in your life to follow your dreams. You can also read Masa and Michael’s book The Minimalist Vegan: A Simple Manifesto On Why To Live With Less Stuff And More Compassion.
Debi Chew - Plant-Based Nurse and Founder of the Chew on Vegan YouTube Channel
She thought she was too old. She thought it would take too long. But Debi Chew followed her dreams. After 24 years working in the grocery business she went back to school to become a nurse - she’s been registered since 2009.
Who better to be a nurse than someone who’s been on their own healing journey? Debi went vegan after watching Forks over Knives. But a year later, she was diagnosed with auto-immune hepatitis. Her liver was totally shutting down, she was so bad that her gastroenterologist said if she didn’t take the steroids he would put her in hospital. So she took them. But she knew she didn’t want to be on medications for life, and researched alternatives. Though a combination of Chinese herbs and a plant-based diet, she got off the steroids within 6 weeks and took herself back to total health.
Debi set up Chew on Vegan after taking Jason Wrobel’s My Healthy Hustle class. Her YouTube channel spreads the plant-based message and helps people transition to a vegan diet with tons of easy, simple, vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free recipes. Check it out! Especially the outrageous brownies by Chef AJ (we love Chef AJ, all her recipes are salt, sugar and oil-free; she was a guest on Episode 78). You can email Debi at chewonvegan@gmail.com.

“Why don’t you put a bag over your face?” is the kind of comment Daisy grew up with. She suffered with terrible cystic acne from 3rd grade. Despite trying every anti-acne product on the market - oral antibiotics, silicic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, etc. nothing worked. In fact, these conventional treatments even made her skin worse. She felt massively insecure, ugly, and believed she would never belong. She was even bullied because of her skin, which really affected her self-esteem. But it also shaped her.
Tired of trying products that didn’t work, she began reviewing them on her YouTube channel to help other acne sufferers. Viewers resonated with her vulnerability and before she knew it, she’d built a loyal following. As she kept trying to figure out how to heal her skin, she realized it was about more than what she put on her skin, it was also about diet and lifestyle. Her mission is to help others clear up their skin, feel beautiful, and be unapologetically themselves.
Now, her skin is acne-free and glowing, and her skincare brand, Banish, is a million-dollar business selling a small range of products made with only natural ingredients - no preservatives, artificial fragrances, or harmful chemicals. Skincare that really works.

Her best seller is the Banish Set - a kit containing the Banisher, a micro-needling roller which causes microscopic damage to the skin (but it really doesn’t hurt at all!) and promotes skin renewal, combined with the Banish Oil, a vitamin C serum that contains ascorbic acid and rosehip oil. Together, these products increase collagen and elastane in your skin, helping to reduce fine lines, hyperpigmentation, and acne scars. And there’s no down-time! We love it. There’s nothing like getting home after a hard day and pouring yourself a glass of wine. But did you know most wines aren’t vegan? Crazy right? Traditional alcohol production uses ingredients such as egg whites, gelatin or dried fish bladders to filter the grapes - suddenly that vino doesn’t look as appealing does it!
Thankfully, some brands have stepped up with delicious vegan options. Our favorite is Le Grand Courtage, founded by Tawnya Falkner, a fierce female entrepreneur who didn’t let anything hold her back from following her passion.
During her many travels (43 countries so far!), Tawnya realized the important role wine plays in all cultures. It brings people together, it highlights celebrations, it helps us to unwind. But it can also be snobby, and some expensive brands don’t even taste that nice (and aren’t even plant-based!). She wanted to create a sparkling wine that’s delicious, affordable, and vegan - a wine suitable for every day and every celebration. So she moved from San Francisco to France to make it happen.
And, despite this being a highly male-dominated industry, she’s succeeded! Without pre-conceived notions of what wine should be, she’s been able to create a light, refreshing, sparkling wine and grow her business from nothing. Her motto: don’t let anything hold you back, especially not insecurity. Dream big and go for it!
Le Grand Courtage bottles are available to buy State-wide. Her latest wine, Très Chic Rosé, has our thumbs up over and above other brands. It’s perfect on its own, or made into cocktails. We love it! You can get yours here.

It’s never been easier to go plant-based. More importantly, there’s never been a better time to do it. Faced with an epidemic of disease and the threat of global warming, it’s the one thing all of us can do to make a positive difference - both for our health, and the planet.
Today’s two guests made the shift to veganism after watching the groundbreaking (and super powerful) documentary Earthlings. Now, they want to help other people transition to plant-based living, and better health.
Melissa is a plant-powered personal chef and founder of ForkinPlants. We’re so inspired by her story. After studying healthcare and working in an office for years, she quit her 9 to 5 to follow her dreams and focus on her passions: cooking and helping people live healthy lives. But she wasn’t always on this vibe. In fact, before going vegan she used to eat cheese out of a can! Fifteen years ago, she had to take a 14-day course of antibiotics to clear an H-Pylori stomach infection. The result was a destroyed digestive system, chronic acid reflux and really bad eczema. Through research and Chinese medicine, she discovered that some of the top superfoods, like turmeric, were actually making her condition worse. Now, having healed herself through food, she helps others do the same. Read her blog post to find out how she healed her skin issues.
Elana’s journey is similar. She suffered from chronic acid reflux from the age of 16. Of course, doctors just gave her a pill to take and unsurprisingly, this didn’t work long-term. She had her light-bulb moment at a retreat where the host made everyone watch Earthlings. Now vegan and healthy, Elana is a plant-based influencer and foodie, spreading vegan holistic health knowledge to those who need it most. She runs vegan events, and is about to quit her office job to follow her passion full-time. Her website Klean-Slate focuses on being real about food - because let’s face it, it’s not about being perfect, it’s about making small sustainable changes that last. Check out Episode 120 for Elana’s first appearance on the show, where she shares tips to rebalance your gut microflora.

With so many different types of yoga, you might not know where to start. The same goes for fitness. Do you go hard and fast, or slow and gentle? Thai kick-boxing or asana flow? Or maybe it doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you’re moving and appreciating your body.
Koya Webb is a yoga superstar and celebrity holistic health coach, has appeared on NBC and was the main character on the reality show Yoga Girls. If you want to feel inspired, her Instagram is the most beautiful feed, full of motivational posts. But it wasn’t always this way.
As a teen, Koya was insecure, had no self-worth or self-love. She had to learn to build that over time. What set her on that journey was track athletics. But just before she was about to make it big, she got a stress fracture. That was the end of the dream. She sank into a very dark place. And that’s when a school councilor suggested yoga.
From the first class, Koya felt connected to spirit in a way she’d never experienced before. Within a year, she’d healed her body through yoga and meditation. From there, she kept studying and decided to become a yoga teacher to inspire people into a healthier lifestyle. For Koya, the secret lies in balance.
You don’t have to be dogmatic about yoga, just like you don’t have to be dogmatic about your diet. When Alli went from non-vegan to super hardcore raw veganism, she got sick. She had to find her sweet spot. Everyone is different. Some people love to eat first thing in the morning. Other people enjoy intermittent fasting. And what you need may change depending on what’s happening in your life. You need to eat and fuel up based on your lifestyle. And the most important ingredient for total health? Self-love.
We need to get loved up. Most of us are givers and lovers and nurturers, but we also need to learn how to receive love. Otherwise our cup gets empty and we get exhausted. Koya created the Get Loved Up University, a yoga teacher training academy to give more women the tools to teach other women, and spread the beautiful message of love, unity, health and plant-based nutrition. If this sounds like what you need, join Koya on her yoga retreat in Thailand in December! Any shape, size, nationality, yoga ability, you are invited to come and get loved up!

What do relationships and business have in common? You can’t succeed in either without mindfulness.
Think about what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. Drive, passion, organization, strength…. But also, belief in yourself, trust in your abilities, confidence in your knowledge. Without that, you just stand in your own way. So how can we stop blocking ourselves from following our dreams and setting up our businesses? It all starts with mindfulness.
The same goes for our relationships. Our vibration, which is made up of all our habitual thoughts and our core beliefs about ourselves and the world, is what attracts people into our lives. In the same way, if we have unresolved issues, we will keep attracting people who exacerbate them. Unless we love ourselves, we cannot expect another person to truly love us. We need to empower ourselves and take responsibility for what we bring into our relationships - we create our reality, so if our reality doesn’t suit us, then we need to look at what we’re putting out there, what we’re believing, and how we’re creating this situation.
Mindfulness can be the difference between success and failure. Most of what holds us back is not being mindful or aware of the little things that stop us. Limiting believes create blocks, in our relationships, and our business. When we bring mindfulness to what we’re doing, it opens us up for success in all areas of our lives.
Step in today’s guest, Michael Neeley. Michael first discovered mindfulness during his acting career (he spent twelve years working as a medieval knight!). The more he studied Buddhism and got into the psychology of human beings, the more he felt driven to share this knowledge with the world. He got out of acting and into coaching, and now runs three podcasts and regular mindset mastery events. His mission: to bring new ways of thinking and being to wake up people and the world.
That’s why Michael launched Your Authority Blueprint Live, an event dedicated to helping visionary solo-preneurs connect with their inner expert and become successful. The Authority Blueprint is founded on four pillars which, when implemented, will catapult you into the scene in a big way. These four pillars are podcasting, virtual summits, speaking from stage and authoring your own book.
If you feel like you’ve got a book inside you, or the deep sense that you have something to share, but are not sure where to begin, this event is perfect for you.
Michael’s year-long program, the Authority Academy, goes through each one of those pillars one by one, and get them done, while helping you release the blocks that keep you from stepping up. So that at the end of the year your podcast is up and running, you’ve spoken at an online summit, are booking speaking gigs and have published your book. More details HERE.
If you’re ready to release what keeps you blocked, then don’t miss JJ’s Releasing What Weighs You Down event on January 10th to 13th in Los Angeles. Speakers will include JJ herself, Michael Neeley, Allison, energy practitioner Lisa Thomas and mind-body-spirit nutritionist Jeanne Peters.

Do you ever feel like none of your inner work is getting you anywhere? What if your fears, limiting beliefs and negative patterns were not your own, but actually inherited from your ancestors? Are you holding something in your body that isn’t even yours?
If your ancestors had any kind of emotional trauma, such as fear, phobias, depression, anxiety, abuse, the subconscious traps that energy in DNA. This gets passed down, generation to generation. So your phobia of spiders may be due to a great great aunt experiencing the trauma of getting bitten. For example, Whitney’s limiting beliefs around money come from her grandfather going through the Great Depression.
It can feel overwhelming to think that you’re also carrying other people’s trauma, but don’t worry! You can free yourself from these patterns and release the emotions that are not your own.
Lisa Thomas is a Transformational Energy Healer and uses a combination of kinesiology (a form of muscle testing) and clairvoyancy to connect with her clients’ subconscious and assess what is blocking them, what needs to be released, and where these limiting beliefs have come from.
Lisa was born with these gifts and initially felt this as a huge burden. Seeing dead people isn’t exactly fun when you don’t know what it all means and you can’t talk to anyone about it. She didn’t know what to do, and felt afraid and isolated. It wasn’t until years later that she realized that if she wasn’t using her gifts to empower people, she wasn’t fulfilling her purpose on earth.
Thanks to her help, her clients can align with their soul purpose, get their unique gifts into the world, and reach their fullest potential. By drawing on her access to Source Energy and knowledge of holistic healing methods, Lisa can break patterns of struggle and negative energy that hold you back, so you can achieve a life filled with love and prosperity. She offers consultations in person, by Skype or by phone, and she works with people from all over the world and of all ages, from newborns to 80-year-olds.
How can you manifest what you desire?
It’s not as hard as you might thing. It comes down to gratitude. Gratitude for what you have in your life but also what’s coming - your perfect clients, your soulmate, the growth of your business, vibrant health. It has to go further than simply thinking about it or writing it. You’ve got to speak your gratitude out loud. Because when you speak it, you send it out into the Universe, and that energy will come back to you.

We used to consider smoking healthy - everyone smoked, even doctors. It took over 20 years and 7000 studies before the first official report against smoking was published. How long will it take before the truth comes out about our diets?
Well, if Dr. Michael Greger has anything to do with it, not long at all!
Dr. Greger was inspired into the medical profession by his grandma’s healing story. She’d had so many bypass operations that doctors said there was nothing more to be done, and sent her home to die. She was only 65. But after working with of one of the original lifestyle medicine pioneers, Nathan Pritikin, she healed herself and went on to live another 31 healthy happy years.
Having witnessed firsthand the healing power of a plant-based diet, Dr. Greger is on a mission to bring the truth about nutrition to as many people as possible. He founded the free, non-profit, science-based website NutritionFacts.org, which provides the latest in evidence-based nutrition research.
We love his book How Not to Die, where he examines the top 15 causes of death in the US, and explains how nutrition works BETTER than prescription meds to prevent and reverse disease, heal your body and help you live longer. It’s a practical guide that will help you design a lifestyle that supports your complete wellbeing. You can download the free Daily Dozen app, which gives you simple daily strategies to fight disease and feel great, even on a budget. And the best thing? 100% of the proceeds of his books are donated to charity.
The message is loud and clear: we have the power to prevent and reverse chronic disease with a plant-based diet and healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Greger is also working on a new book, How Not To Diet, which will be out in December 2019. He’s discovered some unique metabolic quirks to accelerate weight loss. We can’t wait to read it!!

Is clutter holding you back? You may think mess is just a nuisance, but the state of your home is a reflection of what is going on inside.
Our environment sends us sensory messages about the world we live in. A broken path to your home sends the message that life is hard, that things can trip you up. A cluttered purse sends the message of difficulty letting go. A chaotic desk speaks of disorganization. When we begin to clear and declutter our environment, we actually begin to clear our inner world as well. And that is the real magic of Feng Shui.
Dana Claudat is a modern Feng Shui master, but her life wasn’t always zen. There was a time when a perfect life to Dana meant hustling x1000, always chasing the next thing. On the outside her life looked awesome, on the inside she was totally burnt out. After years of this kind of fast-paced lifestyle, she ended up in hospital with auto immune disorders. For the first time in her adult life, she was house-bound. Forced to slow down, Dana realized she’d never made her house a home, never created a space where she could truly thrive. There wasn’t a single picture on the walls, the place looked like an impersonal Airbnb. That’s when she found Feng Shui, and it transformed her life.
Through the art of Feng Shui, Dana found her voice, got grounded, became confident, and created her business. For over a decade, she’s helped clients change their homes and reconnect with the flow of their life’s true purpose. New jobs, fame, soulmate relationships, business deals, and renewed self-love are just some of the results Dana’s clients have experienced.
Feng Shui Explained
Feng Shui is basically the art and science of creating an optimum space for you to thrive. There’s no one-size-fits-all model. And it’s not about following arbitrary rules, like purple for wealth or red for success (I mean, not everyone wants red and purple in their living room, right?). Instead, it’s about how the space makes you feel.
Prosperity comes from creativity. And for creativity to blossom you need to feel present and grounded in your space. That comes from creating a home that is decluttered and clear of stagnant energies.

Ultimately, when you change your home, you change your life. You can shape the universe around you in your favor. Where will you begin?

1: How much exercise do we really need?
The latest scientific research says the optimum amount of exercise is 60 minutes a day. Sounds like a lot, but you don’t have to do it all in one go: you can break it up. If you’re busy, do 10 minutes kettlebell in the morning, throw in a bit of high speed walking at lunchtime, and a spot of yoga in the afternoon. Simply being active in your day to day soon adds up when it comes to fitness. Even tidying up can help you work up a sweat.
Consider your goals. If you’re focusing on long term health, lower impact exercise is a good choice. If you’re looking for fast results, go for high-intensity workouts. Ultimately, it’s about finding a balance between the two that works for you.
2: I like to drink a glass of wine every day. I’ve got a pretty healthy routine otherwise, but I just need that glass. Is it ok to have wine?
Be plant-powered, eat your greens, and enjoy that glass of wine guilt-free. Firstly, wine is packed with antioxidants, in moderation it’s practically a health food (check out Dr. Cabral’s episode where he shares the secrets to drinking healthily). When you deny yourself something you love, you end up compensating by binging on something else. It’s more important to listen to your body. Definitely don’t feel guilty, because guilt changes the molecular structure of our bodies. So pour yourself that glass of wine, and enjoy every sip.
3: What’s the deal with SPF? Is the sun giving us skin cancer or is it good for us? What are you best recommendations for healthy sunscreen?
The sun is not the devil. In fact, vitamin D is vital and you should get between 2000-5000 IU every day. A little bit of sunshine is ok (although definitely avoid the baby oil and the aluminum foil), but you need to be cautious and protect yourself from harmful rays. Our top tips:
4: Colonics and enemas. Hype or healing tools?
There’s a ton of conflicting information out there. Some say it’s lifesaving, others say it might kill you. The truth is somewhere in between. As a short-term fix or to kickstart your healing journey, they can work miracles. In fact, many Food Heals guests have had positive experiences with them. But some say washing away your microbiome is a bad idea, and colonics shouldn’t be relied upon long-term.
If you eat clean and if you’re healthy, you don’t necessarily need colonics because you’re giving your digestive system everything it needs to function and support a healthy gut. The body is clever, it naturally detoxifies, and we can assist it in a gentle way by eating certain herbs and vegetables like cilantro, milk thistle and leafy greens.
5: What are the best green products for hair?
6: How do you kick a Starbucks addiction?
If you’re trying to kick the coffee habit, you can try a matcha tea shot instead. It will really energize you without giving you the jitters. Or give Hiball a try, they give you a natural lift.
If it’s the take-out coffee habit you’re trying to shift, then look at it from an economic, health, and environment perspective. You can buy really good organic ethical tea or coffee, organic plant milk with no nasties added, make it at home and take it with you in a reusable cup… not only do you save money, but you avoid chemical-packed non-organic coffee and sugary milks (saving your health), and don’t contribute to the mountain of plasticized coffee cups polluting the oceans (saving the planet). When it comes to coffee with benefits, you can’t go wrong with Foursigmatic, instant coffee infused with medicinal mushrooms.
7: What are your thoughts on drinking aloe vera gel?
Aloe vera can be good for food poisoning because it flushes you out and helps the intestinal tract to heal. However, you need to use it with caution, because it can be powerful and some people are super sensitive to it. In small amounts it can be delicious, you can mix it with lemon and mint for a healthy healing lemonade.
8: What are some tips to move out of food addiction and into a healthy relationship with our food?
The first thing to acknowledge is that food is just a symptom of disordered eating. The cause is deeper. So switching to veganism or vegetarianism doesn’t automatically cure food addiction. You need to begin by exploring what sits behind those behaviors. What are the thoughts and beliefs fueling your eating patterns? Ultimately, when we reconnect to self-love, and are mindful of what is driving us to crave another serving of ice-cream (vegan or not), we can step out of disordered eating and into a healthy relationship with food.
